Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

ETS2 Modspot is an independent, community-oriented catalog that helps players find, verify, and install Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator mods. The Site is run by one person, not a company, corporation, or other business entity. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by SCS Software.

Important: we do not host mod files. Every mod page links to the original creator or source, and downloads happen on those third-party sites under their own policies.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy covers the ets2modspot.com website only. It does not cover external sites we link to (including mod sources, World of Trucks, and Steam), each of which has its own privacy practices.

3. Information we collect

a. Information collected automatically

When you use the Site we log a minimal set of usage data so we can understand traffic, rank mods accurately, and detect abuse:

• Usage events — the page path, referrer, a truncated browser user-agent string, the event type (for example a page view or a download click), and the related mod where applicable.
• Outbound “Go to source” clicks — the destination host and link, the link's status at the time of the click, and a truncated user-agent, so we can route around broken or risky links.
• IP address (hashed) — we never store your raw IP address. We convert it to a salted SHA-256 hash that cannot be reversed back to your address, and use it only for rate-limiting and abuse detection.

b. Information you choose to provide

• Optional World of Trucks sign-in. If you connect a World of Trucks account, we sync public profile details (display name, avatar, country, statistics, achievements, gallery images, and recent log-book entries) so you can view them on the Site. See section 8 for how your credentials are handled.
• Reviews. A star rating and review text you submit for a mod, shown publicly under your profile display name after moderation.
• Shared load orders. A title, game version, and the list of mods you choose to share. If you are signed in, the share is linked to your account; otherwise it is anonymous.
• Reports. A report type and optional message when you flag a mod (for a broken download, unsafe file, copyright issue, spam, or wrong information). Reports do not require an account and do not ask for your name or email.
• Preferences. Favorites and DLC ownership selections, stored against your account when you are signed in.

c. Information we do not collect

We do not operate email/password registration, so we do not store passwords for Site accounts. We do not collect payment-card details, we do not process payments, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers or affiliate links. Community screenshots shown on the Site are sourced from the public World of Trucks gallery — visitors cannot upload images here.

4. Cookies, local storage & analytics

We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser local-storage keys for sign-in sessions, the intro-video gate, your game preference, and recently viewed mods, plus Google Analytics 4 / Google Tag Manager for aggregate analytics. 5. How we use information

• To operate, maintain, and secure the Site.
• To rank mods, measure popularity, and improve content quality.
• To detect, prevent, and investigate abuse, fraud, and broken or unsafe links.
• To display your profile, reviews, shared load orders, and preferences when you provide them.
• To respond to your privacy, deletion, copyright, and support requests.

6. Legal bases (EEA/UK visitors)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:

• Legitimate interests — for hashed-IP abuse prevention, aggregate analytics, and keeping the catalog accurate.
• Consent — where required for non-essential analytics cookies and when you choose to connect a World of Trucks account. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Performance of a request — to provide features you actively use, such as posting a review or sharing a load order.

7. Third-party services & who we share data with

We rely on a limited set of service providers and share personal information with them only as needed to operate the Site. We do not share your information with any other third party, and we do not sell it. Each provider operates under its own privacy policy, linked below:

• Google Analytics 4 & Google Tag Manager (Google LLC) — Aggregate, privacy-conscious traffic and usage analytics that help us understand which pages and mods are useful. Privacy policy.
• Vercel (Vercel Inc.) — Website hosting and content delivery. Vercel processes basic server request logs as part of serving the site. Privacy policy.
• Amazon Web Services (Amazon S3) (Amazon Web Services, Inc.) — Storage and delivery of site images, screenshots, logos, and media assets. Privacy policy.
• World of Trucks (SCS Software) — loaded only when relevant — Optional account sign-in and profile sync. Loaded only if you choose to connect a World of Trucks account; your World of Trucks images are then served from SCS Software servers. Privacy policy.
• Steam Content Delivery Network (Valve Corporation) — Delivery of official DLC cover artwork shown on DLC pages. Privacy policy.
• Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare, Inc.) — loaded only when relevant — Bot and abuse protection on the administrative sign-in page only. It is not loaded on ordinary visitor pages. Privacy policy.

8. World of Trucks credentials

Connecting a World of Trucks account is entirely optional. When you do, your World of Trucks email and password are transmitted server-side to worldoftrucks.com to sign you in. We do not store your World of Trucks password, and we do not log it. We retain only the resulting session token (so we can refresh your public profile without asking for your password again) and the public profile data described in section 3(b). World of Trucks is operated by SCS Software under its own terms and privacy practices.

9. Data retention

Hashed-IP analytics and outbound-click logs are kept only as long as needed for trend analysis and abuse prevention, then pruned. Account and profile data is kept while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your data (see our Data Deletion Request page), we remove it as described there, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law or resolve disputes.

10. How we protect information

We apply reasonable technical safeguards, including a strict Content-Security-Policy, HTTPS in transit, signed session cookies set as HttpOnly, and irreversible hashing of IP addresses. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these:

• Use our Data Deletion Request page to delete your account and data.
• See Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information for California (CCPA/CPRA) rights.
• Email info@ets2modspot.com for access, correction, or any other request. We aim to respond within 30 days.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

12. International visitors & data transfers

The Site is operated from the United States and hosted on infrastructure that may process data in the United States and other regions. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

13. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common industry standard for responding to it, so the Site does not currently respond to DNT signals. We do, however, honor the opt-out choices described in our Do Not Sell or Share page.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
